2009 STATE INDOOR ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT BLACKTOWN LEISURE CENTRE!

Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope hosted the inaugural 2009 NSW Indoor Rowing Championships over the weekend.

The NSW Indoor Rowing Championship saw 55 competitors race on indoor rowing machines or otherwise known as "Ergo's" or "Ergo rowers" in the Function Room at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope.

33 races were held throughout the day with a variety of events age categories, team events and junior events, including:

· 2,000m Opens

· 2,000m Schools

· 2,000m Corporate

· Individual 4 minute races

· 1, 000m for Novices

Competitors travelled from as far away as Geelong in Victoria, the ACT, Wollongong and Hunter Valley to compete in the competition.

Doreen Gallagher, who travelled up from Geelong in Victoria won the Women's Veteran category on the day. Doreen broke her own Australian record in the Women's Veteran category, managing to row a remarkable 1,105m in 4 minutes.

All of the results from the competition will be sent off to Concept2 who coordinate the world rankings that each competitor will soon receive.
