Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Local resident Elizabeth Farkas of Quakers Hill, made history on Monday August 3, 2009, when she walked into Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope and became the award-wining Centre's 6 millionth visitor.

Elizabeth was on her way to purchase a 10 visit group fitness pass when it was announced that she was the lucky 6 millionth visitor.

As the milestone visitor, Elizabeth receives a 12-month Gold membership to the facility which includes gym and pool usage, a complimentary term of swimming lessons at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope's Surfees Swim School for her 2 year old son, as well as a 40 visit crèche pass to the newly extended crèche facility so she has the time to use her prize.

The 6 millionth customer walked through doors only days before the centre's stage two developments were officially opened by the Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles on Friday, August 7, 2009. The state of the art facility is of the highest standards and includes new developments such as:

  • Cafe Breeze
  • Squash Court
  • Spin Studio
  • Extended gym with additional equipment
  • Social lounge area
  • Creche
  • Extended car parking

Since opening in 2003, the centre has received 19 community and industry awards with the most recent being the 2008 National Austswim Swim School of the Year.

In addition, there have been more than 600,000 learn to swim enrolments and over 12,800 Health and Fitness exercise classes.
