It's hard not to notice the recent building construction happening at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope, with the shape of the centre changing dramatically in recent weeks!
Stage II developments are well on their way and Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope will soon become the ultimate in community leisure experiences, incorporating a variety of first class leisure, recreational and educational facilities and library resources, all under one roof.
The new look "Cafe Breeze" became the first of the 'new' facilities to open with a terrific new menu to tantalise your taste buds. The car park extension, which takes the total number of spaces to 300, is also now complete.
The steel frame of the Dennis Johnson Library has sprung from the foundations and walls are under construction. When completed, the new Library will feature a children's story telling area, youth lounge, technology area and Blacktown's first drive through book drop off point.
The gym extension is also well under way with walls popping up left right and centre for the new squash court, spinning room and extended gym. When finished, the gym facility will also include a social lounge area.
Mayor of Blacktown City. Councillor Charlie Lowles said that the developments at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope are a part of Council's vision for the future, creating a city that current and future generations can be proud of.
"Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope will soon realise Council's vision of being a 'true' community and leisure centre with facilities for education and exercise side existing side by side.
