Program and Levels

All classes run for 30 minutes in duration and operate Monday through to Sunday.

Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope endorses the Royal Life Saving Swim & Survive program. Swim & Survive is a national swimming and water safety initiative of Royal Life Saving that seeks to increase swimming & water safety skills of Australian children in order to prevent drowning and increase participation in safe aquatic activity.

Infant Program

Child in Floaties

Beach baby classes involve interaction between baby, parent and instructor. The aim of the class is water familiarisation through games, songs, activities and lots of encouragement.

A parent/guardian is required to be in the water with Beach Babies 1 and Beach Babies 2. Parent/ guardians are required to participate in the lesson with the child. Classes are conducted in pools where the water depth will vary between 1.2 m to a maximum of 1.5 m. For the safety and comfort of all participants water confidence in these depths are essential for the parent/ guardian who is participating. The recommended ratio is 9:1. A nipper class is a transitional class where children aim to bond with an instructor. A parent/guardian must be prepared to go into the water if required. The recommended ratio is 4:1. Progression is dependant upon age and ability.

Pre-school Program

Instructor Preschool classes involve the development of water confidence and water safety. The aim of the class is to introduce children to floating, kicking, submerging, controlled breathing and basic swimming strokes. The recommended ratio is 4:1. All classes are aimed at children aged 3 years to 5 years, where progression is dependant on ability.

School Age Program

Kids School age classes involve stroke improvement and advanced skill based activities. The aim of the classes is to develop a wide range of skills to ensure students are competent and confident in all strokes, water safety and survival. The recommended ratio is 5:1 for Redfin & Bluefin classes and 6:1 for all other classes. Classes are aimed at children aged 5 years to 14 years with progression dependent upon ability.

Surfees Advanced Program

Ropes Junior and Senior Development programs involve stroke refinement and endurance building. The aim of these classes is to help each individual with their stroke technique and advance their swimming endurance. Progression is dependant upon ability level.

Adult Programs

Adult classes are held for all ages and ability levels. The aim of adult classes is to teach and improved stroke technique and development. Progression is dependant upon ability level. Bookings are essential and classes are 45 minutes in duration.

Inspire- Personal Learn to Swim

Personal Learn to swim classes are structured to meet the needs of the individual, whilst still aiming to achieve basic swim skills. The classes are designed to encourage learning in an exclusive environment or even aspiring to specific swimming goals. Personal learn to swim lessons are available for pre-school and school age children. Class sessions are held before and after mainstream swim school lessons, and are based on availability.

Inspire to be a Star- Special Needs Learn to Swim

Inspire to be a STAR is a program designed for students with special needs. Inspire to be a STAR learn to swim classes are structured to meet the needs of the individual, whilst still aiming to achieve basic swim skills. The classes are designed to encourage learning in an exclusive environment or even aspiring to specific swimming goals. The aim of Inspire to be a STAR is to develop skills to a level that students can aim to join mainstream lessons after achieving basic skills.

ACCELER8

Acceler8 is an intensive learn to swim program for all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced swimmers. The program is held during each school holiday period. Lessons are held weekdays for half an hour each day, with program duration ranging from 5 to 10 days pending holiday period.
